In a business that is notoriously competitive where only a very few make it to the top, it is becoming increasingly important for students and colleges to tune in to what the broader industry is looking for. Getting work in front of buyers, press and opinion-formers is an immense challenge: one that has just been answered for six young graduate designers from De Montfort University.
Sophie Hughes, Abi Mellor, Ali Lee, Mollie Blue, Ellie Beaumont and Lucy Watkins are graduating this year with a specialism in contour fashion and have been invited by the creators of Dessous London to take part in their two day showroom in July. The students will have the chance to get their creations in front of leading buyers and specialist media, exhibiting alongside industry luminaries such a Dita Von Teese, Montelle, Loveday London, Alexandra Miro and Bluebella.
Gillian Proctor, DMU’s Contour Fashion Course Leader said: “This is an excellent opportunity for the graduates from Contour Fashion at DMU to showcase the breadth of their applications, skills and fit emphasis which the course is known by. We are delighted to be part of Dessous London in our 70th Anniversary Year.”
Dessous London’s Bok Goodall added: “The Dessous London team are passionate about the lingerie industry in the UK and we are so fortunate to work with the best in the business. We always have an eye on the future though and these young designers and their collections represent the shape of things to come.”
