Better Bras After Breast Cancer Takes Over As The Bra Sisters Closes

by Underlines

Former customers of Bra Sisters, the specialist post breast cancer lingerie & bra fitting service, received a welcome surprise recently. After 5 years of giving women a better choice of bras after breast cancer, a change in personal circumstances led to the Bra Sisters ceasing trading at the start of this year.

However, Sarah Mountford, Bra Sisters founder and herself a breast cancer thriver was determined not to leave her customers without the bra fitting advice and bra recommendations that they needed.

Having sought the help of Helen Masters of Pudding Lingerie Consultancy in successfully selling the Bra sisters stock & website,  she still needed someone to take over the provision of advice for the Bra sisters customers – in stepped Helen’s Campaign for Better Bras after Breast Cancer.

Sarah commented:

We are delighted to share that the Campaign for Better Bras after Breast Cancer has taken ownership for providing bra fitting advice, services & product recommendations for the Bra Sisters customer base going forward. Helen Masters, of Pudding Lingerie Consultancy who founded and leads the campaign actually trained the Bra Sisters team as bra fitters in the first place. She helped me to successfully close the business and knows it well and we know she will ensure our customers continue to get the highest standard of service.”

Better Bras after Breast Cancer was founded in October 2024 with 3 goals:

  • To get more lingerie businesses trained to provide expert bra fitting services for women after breast cancer
  • To give advice, recommendations and access to suitable bras for women after breast cancer
  • To directly connect women with bra fitters in their area and bras that may work for them

The Campaign for Better Bras runs a specialist bra fitting training academy, in collaboration with Cancer Research UK, the biggest funder of breast cancer research in the world, after the USA. All bra fitters are trained to an expert level and receive a certificate of endorsement from Cancer Research UK and a business profile on the Better Bras website & social media pages.

Better Bras is also supported by the world’s leading post breast cancer and mainstream lingerie brands  – including many Bra Sisters favourites – meaning Bra Sisters customers can find a bra fitter in their area;  access special customer offers & see regular new product reviews, all through  Better Bras.

Helen commented ‘I have been a fan of the Bra Sisters for years & while I was sad to see the business close, I am also excited to be able to continue to offer the Bra Sister customers the best bra fitting advice, access to bra fitters and to the right bras.

It starts with every Bra Sisters customer receiving a free copy of our Better Bras Guide, which is packed full of bra fitting tips, suggested styles and products. It is also be sent out along with links to our CRUK endorsed bra fitters & special offers from our Better Bras’ brands who include Anita, Royce, Panache, AnaOno, HER Bodywear, Curvy Kate, Amoena, Megami, Voluptina & UnoBra. We now have 25 stores trained as Better Bras CRUK endorsed bra fitters and are keen to hear from retailers and brands who would like to be added to our Better Bras network so we can recommend them to shoppers &retail buyers.’
