Lenzing and OceanSafe Partner – Launch Next-Gen Performance Textiles

The Lenzing Group has teamed up with OceanSafe, an innovator in novel textile materials, to introduce a next-generation yarn – this collaborative innovation synergizes Lenzing’s wood-based TENCEL™ Lyocell – A100 fibres with OceanSafe’s high-performance, biodegradable in the ocean co-polyester, naNea.
By offering a common textile knowledge, resource-efficient, solution that meets growing demand for sustainable, technically advanced materials, this partnership provides an alternative that balances durability, function and environmental responsibility.  The collaboration introduces next-generation yarn combining wood-based TENCEL™ Lyocell – A100 fibres with biodegradable naNea co-polyester.

Together the teams will debut a capsule sportswear collection, showcasing a market-ready alternative to conventional synthetics for active lifestyles, delivering enhanced comfort,, additional performance and functionality, and end-of-life solutions.  Lenzing will be showcasing the collection during Performance Days Munich (October 29-30) and Functional Fabric Fair Portland (November 11-13).

Lenzing will host a 45-minute panel discussion at Performance Days, focusing on strategic partnerships for sustainable innovation, entitled: The Power of Collaboration: Driving Sustainable Innovation Through Strategic Partnerships.  

The session will feature three key Lenzing partners – OceanSafe, Hyosung, Südwolle – showcasing their latest product innovations using A100 on 30th October at 2pm in the Circularity Zone – Hall A2. Each partner will present their approach and how they are blending A100 with other fibres: • OceanSafe: A100 + biodegradable polyester • Hyosung: A100 + bio-based spandex • Südwolle: A100 + wool.

Together they show how Lenzing’s TENCEL™ Lyocell – A100 acts as the innovation ecosystem architect, enabling partners a shared sustainable base so they can focus on what makes them different;

  • OceanSafe merges TENCEL™ Lyocell – A100 with naNea, the world’s first synthetic textile material reaching Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold standard, creating a capsule women’s yoga wear, tees, and fleece jackets.

  • Hyosung TNC cuts fossil fuel elastane dependency by combining TENCEL™ Lyocell – A100 with bio-based regen® BIO Elastane and LENZING™ ECOVERO™ all together for high-performance yoga wear, scaling bio-elastane capacity to 50K tons by 2026.

  • Südwolle Group blends TENCEL™ Lyocell – A100 with fine wool via advanced gamma spun airjet technology to boost efficiency and comfort in technical base layers.
