The Cabildo de Gran Canaria presented during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid the next edition of Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida, which will be held from 5 to 7 October at the Expomeloneras Exhibition Centre in Maspalomas (Gran Canaria).
– The Councillor for Industry, Trade and Crafts of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Minerva Alonso Santana, has unveiled the keypoints of the new 2023 edition of GCSW by MC together with Arancha Priede, Business Director at IFEMA MADRID, and the Canarian designer Elena Morales, winner of the Award for Best Sustainable Collection at the last edition of GCSW by MC.
– The commitment of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria to promote the development and international projection of the swimwear industry in Gran Canaria has established GCSW by MC as the leading European catwalk in swimwear fashion at a global level.
– Aurelia Gil, Elena Morales, Pedro Palmas, Chela Clo, Carlos San Juan and Arcadio Domínguez are some of the Canarian designers and brands present at this edition. Among the national brands, always faithful to the event, Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada and Dolores Cortés. Representing international brands, Melissa Odabash, Alexandra Miró, Edelvissa, Miss Bikini and Gottex are back. The French brands Pain de Sucre, DnuD and Cala 1789 have also joined the new edition.

Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida will bring together 33 designers and brands in this edition -one more than in the last edition – of which 10 are from the Canary Islands – 8 from Gran Canaria and 2 from La Palma; 5 from the Peninsula, and 11 international. In addition to these, there are 7 new designers – three more than in the last edition. All of them will present their Spring Summer 2024 designs on the Canarian catwalk. Among the designers and brands confirmed for this edition are, among others, prestigious national designers such as Aurelia Gil, Elena Morales, Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada and Dolores Cortés. This year’s edition will also see the debut on the catwalk of national brands such as Monnur and Gisela.
Minerva Alonso thanked IFEMA MADRID for their expertise and experience:”which has meant an important positioning for our catwalk“, and the collaboration of the Chamber of Commerce and ACME, as well as the presence of all the international and national firms that, together with the work of the local designers and the entire team of the island institution “have made the catwalk the benchmark platform in Europe for swimwear fashion, a showcase for the island and an example of sustainability“.
Arancha Priede highlighted the solid alliance between IFEMA MADRID and the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, which:

In addition Elena Morales, winner of the Best Sustainable Collection Award at the last edition of GCSW by MC, thanked the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and the Gran Canaria Moda Cálida programme for the support provided over the years for the development of her career:

Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Calida is a unique event in its category at European level and is born from the firm commitment of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria with the fashion industry. With this new edition, the event reinforces its position as an international benchmark in swimwear fashion and consolidates its position as the key event of its kind on the European catwalk circuit. The professionalisation of the catwalk, one of the pillars of the strategy carried out by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria to promote the event, is based on a programme of catwalk shows with prestigious names from the current Canarian, national and international design scene.
During these years, the alliance between the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and IFEMA MADRID has managed to strongly promote the internationalisation of the catwalk, achieving its positioning in international fashion headlines through a common strategy.
The catwalk in figures
The last edition of Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida obtained such positive figures as the following: 60 million readers; 2.5 million impressions; 2.6 million views on networks; 200,000 interactions; 27% in ROI; and a growth in physical points of sale of 47% and online of 41%. Following the increase in points of sale, there was a 28.5% increase in turnover for companies in the sector compared to 2019.
