The Lingerie Outlet Store, e-tailer of intimate apparel, swimwear and nightwear, went into administration with KPMG on Tuesday 3rd September (announced 6th September) but within an hour was picked up by entrepreneur, Jas Singh, who has experience with retail and B2B. This move will add an established website and e-commerce business to his portfolio.
The Lingerie Outlet Store was founded in 2009 by Clare Haines: the business grew rapidly with the addition of business partner, Melissa Burton, and had expanded into new 38,000 square feet warehouse facilities in January 2019. It thrived as an E-Bay millionaire and on other online platforms and in 2017 they relaunched their own new website offering core, fashion and clearance underwear and intimate apparel products. However it was the cash infusion required to establish the new warehouse and stock levels that ultimately led to cash flow problems and administration procedures.
Via a holding company, the Lingerie Outlet Store will continue to trade under its own name with protection of all employees. There is a complete change of directorship and shareholding but both Melissa and Clare will continue to work at the business, ensuring smooth operations with both suppliers and customers. Speaking to Underlines Melissa commented: “We intend to reaffirm our relationships with suppliers after what has been a difficult trading period and further develop the product base offered by the Lingerie Outlet Store. We have an established business and there will be no interruption to trading and shipment to our customers.”
