by Underlines

The Fast Company’s annual ranking of the world’s Most Innovative Companies (MIC) for 2018 lists Amazon (5), Patagonia (6), Stitch Fix (13), Walmart (15), Gucci (30) and Everlane (40). Amazon was commended for its level of customer service, inventory and shipping, outdoor apparel brand Patagonia for using its profile to raise awareness around environmental issues and climate change. Stitch Fix aims to be the alternative to digital retail giant Amazon by offering users a bespoke selection of garments and last year extended into menswear, plus sizes and premium brands. Walmart as well as being the largest bricks & mortar retailer in the world, extended is digital retail space in 2016 by acquiring Jet.com (a fast growing Amazon competitor). Gucci earned its place in the list ‘by giving a 96 year old luxury brand streetwear swagger’ and now beloved of Millenials. Everlane for its innovative approach to consumers (radical transparency where they quote the cost of materials and transportation and how much Everlane makes on each product!).

Also listed in The Fast Company’s Style sector are Tommy Hilfiger, Universal Standard (women’s clothing 10-28), Reformation, Bold Threads, Helmut Lang, Aday and M.Gemi.
