The first Lingerie Industry Forum was held in the Latvian city of Liepāja in November, gathering over sixty guests from nine countries including the UK, France, Netherlands, Russia, Greece and Finland. The textile sector contributes to 4.4% of Latvia’s GDP, with the lingerie industry in Liepaja hosting more than 70 manufacturers and brands, and the event provided an opportunity for lingerie brands, manufacturers, distributors, agents and press to discuss opportunities in the intimate apparel sector.
The Lingerie Industry Forum also included keynote speeches, market analysis and trend insights – speakers included Anton Dell, founder of the Anton Dell Fashion Consultancy, Editor of Intima Magazine Francesca Spinetta and popular Dutch blogger Edith Dohmen. A catwalk show was another highlight of the event, where guests could see the latest collections from Latvian lingerie brands.
Lauma Fabrics CEO Edijs Eglins noted that this forum was a great opportunity for the Latvian companies to establish new contacts: “Lingerie Forum in Liepaja was organized on a highly professional level. Many serious lingerie customers from the East and West markets participated in this forum – actually I have never before seen in Liepaja so many important lingerie customers in one day. We established good contacts with new customers from France, UK, Russia and other countries, and I am absolutely sure the Latvian lingerie producers will get more business because of this forum.”
