The Impetus Group has just reinforced its sustainability goals in a collaboration with Good Earth Cotton®, the world’s first carbon positive and traceable cotton, in a step forward to reach the company’s carbon neutralisation goals. “Our purpose is to dress the world with second skin tech-tailor wear that fits a sustainable future for all,” says Ricardo Figueiredo. The Impetus Group is also working on several other projects that share the common vision that a greener future is a better future, such as the partnership with Belda Llórens for the production of recycled yarn using its own textile waste.
Led by innovation, measurement data and best practice, Good Earth Cotton® paves the way for cotton farming globally. By employing smart farming practices, Good Earth Cotton® sequesters more carbon than it emits during the entire fibre production process, thus having a positive impact on our planet. Impetus has already developed knitwear with Good Earth Cotton® yarn to incorporate into productions and will continue to bet on this long fibre, super absorbent, soft and cozy yarn with collections in a wide range of products launched as early as 2022.
Another innovative feature incorporated in this cotton yarn is that it is 100% traceable from farm to the final product, thanks to the power of FibreTrace® technology. “Traceability is essential for us to maintain strict fibre and production standards. With this yarn, the consumer can be sure that they are buying an item made with 100% carbon positive cotton,” reinforces Ricardo Figueiredo.
