Lingerie enterpreneur, Janice Holmes of Janice Rose Lingerie has set up a Petition for women who have undergone breast surgery to have access to a voucher scheme to obtain their bras and prostheses from approved specialists. The petition was just published at the end of last week and Underlines urges its readers and subsribers to get involved. You can access the link here to get involved and add your voice to the petition.
Janice has launched the petition to gather support for this cause, emphasising the critical need for post-surgical women to access properly fitted bras and prostheses, provided by fitters with expertise, in a dignified and supportive environment.
Janice commented:
Women who have undergone breast surgery due to cancer should have access to bras and prostheses that fit correctly and make them feel comfortable and confident. Currently, some women leave the hospital with inadequate support, sometimes only wearing vests, or are given ill-fitting prostheses. This situation is unacceptable. Just as a wig can help a woman feel like herself again, a properly fitted bra and prosthesis can significantly impact her self-esteem and quality of life.”
Janice highlighted that while the NHS provides vouchers for wigs, the equally important need for correctly fitting bras and prostheses has been overlooked. “The physical and emotional well-being of breast cancer patients should be a priority, and they deserve access to specialist advice and fittings in a safe and supportive environment,” she added.
With over 20 years of experience as a professional bra fitter, Janice Holmes has been at the forefront of promoting the importance of proper bra fitting and breast health. Her team at Janice Rose Lingerie regularly visits community groups, including Women’s Institutes and schools, to educate women about the significance of wearing the right bra size and the benefits of professional fittings.
