Designed in Uruguay and made in Portugal, luxury men’s swimwear brand Marané is dedicated to connecting customers with water and the surrounding natural world. The brand’s name derives from ‘Ivy Maraney’, an old Guarani phrase which means ‘a land without evil’ and describes the founders’ hometown of Punta del Este. Renowned for its rugged, dramatic landscape and thriving Latin American culture, the story of Marané and its Manantiales swim shorts is rooted in Punta.
In addition to sourcing the best fabrics on the market Marané worked with a London-based tailor to develop the Manantiales swim shorts, the first to use sophisticated pressure-bonding technology to fuse seams thus guaranteeing the shorts sit flat. The comfortable shorts are available in 6 colours inspired by Punta del Este’s natural environment, and the brand has also launched the Horizon Collection featuring watercolour prints in collaboration with local artist Claudio Pincas.
“We don’t believe in fast fashion,” said Marané founders Christine Serhal and Alessandro Aquilina. “We are committed to quality and craftsmanship – everything we do is to the highest standard and there is meaning behind every detail.”
The swim shorts are available online and at the Marané store in Uruguay as well as Zurich store AP&Co.
