Curvy Kate announced today the results of their 2016 Star in a Bra competition, which every year selects one lingerie fan to become the face of the brand. This year the competition had a record number of entrants with over 2000 curvy hopefuls sending their pictures, and Séana Sweeney from Dublin took the crown after gaining the most votes from the public.
Séana is the first mum to be crowned Star in a Bra, and after years of struggling with her body image it was pregnancy and motherhood that made her begin to love her body for what it could achieve. “I absolutely hated my body growing up, I was always bigger and more awkward than my friends who were all gorgeous and petite. I had big everything – big freckles, big lips, big bum, big hips. And I hated all of it. It eased a bit when I became pregnant, I began to appreciate how amazing my body was. I’ve come through to the other side of accepting myself now, and being genuinely happy in my own skin.”
It was Séana’s newly found confidence that drove her to enter the competition and now as the winner she hopes to inspire others to find self-love. “I can’t believe I’ve won, I’m totally shocked. I’m so grateful to all of the people that took the time to read my story and vote for me, I had some really tough competition on my hands with the other finalists – each one as beautiful and inspiring as the next.”
Séana will win an all-expenses paid trip to London to shoot the latest Curvy Kate marketing campaigns, as well as a year-long contract with Bridge models and a year’s supply of Curvy Kate Lingerie. Joining Séana in the Top 3 are the beautiful Rebecca Savory and Diana Sirokai.
