Iconic legwear retailer Sock Shop announces plans to open its first high street store since the closure of their final shop in 2006. Originally founded in 1983, Sock Shop quickly became the most popular sock retailer with 52 stores across the UK, but since its acquisition by the Ruia Group in 2006 the brand has been solely retailing through its e-commerce platform sockshop.co.uk.
The new 400 sq ft concept store will open in early September 2015 at Manchester Arndale and will host a floor to ceiling feature wall displaying a plethora of legwear including a rainbow of colours and styles. Amit Ruia, Managing Director of Osan Ltd says: “We’re delighted to have taken Sock Shop into a position to launch back into retail. It was always our strategy to re-launch into retail when the time was right, so this a significant date in the Ruia family business.
