AWWA Drives Footfall and Confidence at The Bra Consultancy

by Underlines

AWWA – Accepting Who We Are, the body confidence movement co-founded by model and advocate Rachel Peru and campaigner Tina Boden, delivered a standout in-store event at The Bra Consultancy on Saturday 25th April, combining retail theatre with a powerful body confidence message.

Spending the day from 9:30am to 3:30pm as Live Mannequins in the shop window, Rachel and Tina created a striking visual focal point that drew in both passing footfall and engaged customers. The pair also spent time speaking with women inside and outside the boutique, encouraging open conversations around body confidence, bra fits, and self-acceptance.

The event delivered clear retail impact, with over 50 women professionally fitted throughout the day, including a strong number of new customers drawn in through event promotion and on-the-day visibility.

’It was such an amazing event, that made such an incredible impact not just to all those visiting the shop on the day, but passers by too! It was so lovely work with AWWA and to be a part of the conversations surrounding body positivity and encouraging more women to be comfortable and confident in their own skin.”

Supported by the Wacoal Group, Rachel and Tina each showcased five different looks, featuring a mix of lingerie and swimwear, allowing customers to see how the pieces look on bodies they can genuinely relate to.

By stepping into the window and modelling throughout the day, the duo challenged traditional lingerie imagery and gave customers the opportunity to visualise fit, support and style on real women.

“A big part of what we do is making women feel seen,” says Rachel Peru. “When you can actually look at a body that feels familiar to you, it changes how you feel about yourself.”

Confidence That Lasts Beyond the Fitting Room

For many women, the experience delivered immediate and tangible results.

“The AWWA event mannequins were amazing, boosted my confidence straight away. Louise did my bra fitting, she made me feel so comfortable and at ease. I’ve been wearing a 40D and I am actually a 36H.”

Stories like this highlight the powerful combination of expert fitting and a supportive, inclusive environment, where women feel both physically supported and emotionally uplifted.

The collaboration highlights how independent retailers can successfully combine commercial performance with meaningful customer experience. The Live Mannequin concept not only increased footfall but created a sense of occasion, conversation, and community within the store.

The Bra Consultancy event forms part of AWWA’s wider campaign working with independent lingerie boutiques across the UK, using creative in-store activations to drive both sales and self-confidence.
