Babajaan, a line of luxurious beach and resort wear, evokes both the spirit of founder Sandra Moleirinho’s native Brazil and the glamorous locales she’s visited on her travels as a designer and entrepreneur. The result is a collection of timeless and flattering swimwear pieces.
“The collection is beyond fashion – it’s about feeling good about yourself,” says Moleirinho, who has spent the past decade as a London-based designer and a consultant. She launched Babajaan in 2008 to capture the feel-good factor of the beach. “It’s difficult not to be happy when you travel,” says Moleirinho. “I want Babajaan to be part of that good feeling.”
Designed in London and made in Brazil and Italy, Babajaan’s swimwear comes in simple, elegant shapes to enhance the figure, with the pieces expertly constructed to give a subtle lift to the body. The label’s chic kaftans, meanwhile, are fashioned in simple silhouettes, with hints of Brazil in their fabric and embellishments. To complete its resort look, Babajaan also creates its own sun-shielding Panama hats. Designed in London in over 20 different styles, Babajaan’s Panamas are hand-woven in Cuenca, Ecuador, where the design originated.
