The Salon International de la Lingerie which closed on Monday 19th January had one of its most successful editions for some years with exhibitors and buyers in a generally upbeat mood. The weather was unseasonably warm and bright sunshine shone on visitors and exhibitors alike. From the minute you got off the Metro you were saturated in the world of lingerie with underground banners of Antigel, Aubade, Chantelle and Chantelle X, Empreinte, Lise Charmel, Louisa Bracq, Maison and Simone Perele. As usual the Fashion Shows were standing room only as visitors were keen to see new collections and indeed new and innovative brands featuring in The Selection.
As well as a sound showing of the heavyweights in the industry such as the Wacoal Group, the Chantelle Group, Van de Velde and the larger French lingerie houses there was much to celebrate in terms of special anniversaries. Chantelle invited key buyers and press to an afternoon presentation of the history, tradition and contempoary progress of their 150 years in business, Anita celebrated their 140th with buyers on a boat trip and Empreinte marked their 80 years by a special buyers trip to a famous horse and riding school. outside Paris for a truly unique experience of models on horseback!
It was good to to see the return of beloved brands such as Dim making a welcome return to the Show and Mey and Lise Charmel excelled in their stand presentation. All in all a hugely enjoyable event and a very positive mood prevailed.
