Amoena’s SS18 collection challenges mastectomy lingerie stereotypes

by Underlines

Building on its legacy as the global pioneer in breast care, Amoena‘s Spring/Summer 2018 fashion and lingerie collection boldly challenges the stereotype of mastectomy-wear as dowdy and uninteresting. The design leader in pocketed lingerie, swimwear, active wear and clothing for women who have experienced breast cancer, Amoena’s seasonal collection is designed to entice and inspire women with styles and colours that will transform their daily wardrobe.

Talking about the rise in recent years of boutique brands and online-only lingerie stores, Amoena’s designer Melanie Zimmer said: “While some women still believe that established mastectomy bra manufacturers are old-fashioned, our aesthetic has evolved right alongside mainstream fashion design, and our 40-plus years of experience serve as a solid foundation that the newer, independent brands might not have. Our looks are definitely more modern now, but the enduring support women get from our bras is thanks to a legacy of design excellence and innovation.”

“This season’s looks are fresh and sexy, designed with Hollywood as an inspiration and incorporating the colour and texture trends of the world’s top fashion houses,” she adds. The collection includes brand-new lace plunge bras like the Melody wire-free soft bra, delicate prints and patterns as well as dramatic embellishments throughout the lingerie range, complemented by bold cuts and youthful colours in the extensive swimwear collection. For daily wear and workouts, Leisure and Active tops give women more freedom, with integral pockets to hold a breast prosthesis and even built-in bras.
