Falke are proud to announce that they are stocking the limited edition Falke Vicuna socks exclusively at Harrods from June. Priced at £459 and made from one of the most expensive and luxurious materials in the world, Vicuna wool, the socks are only available in a rich caramel shade as the natural Vicuna fibre is too delicate to dye.
Paul Falke, joint CEO at FALKE says: “When I first discovered this delicate and luxurious yarn, Vicuna, I knew I had to make the most exquisite sock in the world. I was not aware at this point how much of a challenge it would be to source this fine yarn as it can only be sourced from the high alpine passes of the Andes in Peru.”
“Vicunas are Peru’s national animal who are known to roam the mountains and can only be shorn every few years, so the harvesting of their wool is highly sustainable and rare. Their wool is the finest of all animal-derived fibres, is just 12 micro-metres in diameter and cannot be dyed because it is so delicate,” he adds. “In the end, it took us two years to produce the socks, but as the yarn is so rare and exclusive we can only produce a small number of Vicuna socks a year, which is what true luxury is all about.”
