Maternity lingerie specialists Lorna Drew are definitely making their mark on the UK high street with two household name retailers to add to their growing list of stockists. After successfully launching in selected John Lewis stores earlier this year, Lorna Drew is now available in Mothercare online and all 74 JoJo Maman Bebe stores throughout the UK, and July also sees the launch of the brand’s elegant Catherine collection, inspired and named after Lorna Drew’s favourite fan, HRH the Duchess of Cambridge.
For Lorna Drew Founder and MD Lorna Murchie, it has been a learning curve. Not only in terms of design, but also in terms of discovering the importance of maternity lingerie to a woman’s well-being, and how she sees herself throughout her pregnancy.
“Being pregnant has given me a fresh perspective on the way I design maternity and nursing lingerie. Pregnancy totally changes the way you view your body. As well as the basic principles of designing for pregnancy such as comfort, room for growth and price, of additional importance for me was to continue to feel like myself.”
“I feel better about my swollen ankles, sore feet and stiff back when I’m rubbing lotion on my bump in the morning in a pretty lingerie set,” she adds. “It makes me feel proud of my pregnant body, which is something I have always strived for at Lorna Drew Lingerie.”
