The monumental staircase of The Mauritshuis is decorated with three impressive paintings – however, it were the original frames that caught Marlies Dekkers‘ attention. These frames show an impressive construction of militaristic objects such as guns, weapons, drums, ropes and chains, which reflect the heroic journeys of Johan Maurits as well as his strength and adventurous nature. The decorative frames inspired Marlies Dekkers to design the metal chain ornaments in this collection, challenging their wearers to be daring and adventurous.
