Brazil: Creating Fashion for Tomorrow opens London Fashion Week

Brazil: Creating Fashion for Tomorrow (BCFT) presents its second edition at the Embassy of Brazil, London, to open the London Fashion Week calendar from September 13th to 17th, 2024.

The exhibition, which is open to the public from 13th-17th September, strives to illuminate issues pertaining to women in fashion and the broader economy; highlighting the creativity, quality, and exquisite expertise demonstrated by both creators and executors.

Among the brands at the showcase included Catarina Mina with communities in the state of Ceará, Farm Rio with the Yawanawá indigenous craftswomen, Lenny Niemeyer, with its partnership with the Barreirinhas Craftswomen’s Association (Maranhão), Marina Bitu, showcasing designs made from straw of the banana tree stem, Dayana Molina’s Nalimo, at the forefront of indigenous representation in Brazil, PatBo and its embroiderers’ school, along with Renata Brenha and Flavia Aranha’s various initiatives.

Material sustainability and innovation in Brazil was both physically displayed and digitally communicated throughout the opening showcase. In partnership with Apex, the exhibition highlighted alternative production methods and material sources developed by women, with all designers presenting pieces aligning with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
