PrettyLittleThing has just announced the launch of their latest collection with cancer awareness and action charity, GIRLvsCANCER. The 18-month collaboration with see the launch of PrettyLittleThing’s first ever post-surgery lingerie. The collection explores a mixture of comfort and femininity featuring a range of seamless bras, lace dressing gowns and beautiful bodysuits.
The company is trying to cater for thousands of woman undergoing surgical treatment who after operations are not happy with the choices of expensive, clinical and often unflattering options that are available. GIRLvsCANCER was founded by cancer survivor, broadcaster and no-nonsense campaigner Lauren Mahon and it is her approach with PrettyLittleThing that has resulted in a post-surgical collection that is sexy, comfortable and most importantly, empowering.
The collection features slightly higher necklines and wider straps for extra comfort as well as removable and adjustable straps and ties to keep the pieces interchangeable. Under-bust binding gives support and comfort with a discreet pocket on both sides for singular or double prosthesis. In the lace styles there is a double layer of powermesh within the pocket. For those who are body conscious and wish to cover scarring, there are a range of cover-ups and layering pieces such as lace robe, printed matching snake shirt and a floor length wrap nightgown. Lingerie stylist and brand consultant, Monica Harrington, worked with the company on the fit process and requirements for the lingerie collection.
Lauren Mahon, founder of GIRLvsCANCER, commented on the new partnership:
“GIRLvsCANCER exists to blow up the cancer landscape by collaborating to crush the stigma, stop isolation and bring about essential change. This is the type of essential change I’m talking about. A partnership to not just provide donations, but cool, sought after and tangible products for those impacted by cancer. I’m so incredibly proud of this collection that incorporates a range of lingerie made for everybody but created with breast cancer patients in mind. This project with Pretty Little Thing will genuinely empower those dealing with a diagnosis, and directly impact improvements of the cancer experience for all. Importantly for me, this isn’t just a one-off campaign for an awareness month. This is an 18-month commitment from a big retail giant, and I am genuinely excited to see the heights we can take it.”
