Textiles needed to make reusable surgical gowns

The University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire are looking for material to use in the manufacture of reusable surgical gowns. The material is generally made from either cotton or poly cotton and must be water resistant/repellent and able to withstand several hot washes (specs below):

  • Preferably 100% cotton, cretonne fabric
  • Water repellent/resistant
  • Number of threads: warp 24, weft 24
  • Metric count: warp 28, weft 28
  • Weight per m²: 180g
  • Woven polyester and cotton (50%-50%), heat set
  • Alternatively 50% polyester, 50% cotton fabric, heat set
  • Number of threads: warp 24, weft 22
  • Metric count: warp 28, weft 28
  • Weight per m²: 175g

Industrial manufacturing must meet the EN 13795-1 norm (surgical drape, gown and clean suits used as medical device for patient, clinical staff and equipments). Suppliers or manufacturers within the textile industry please email sarah.pagan@cwgrowthhub.co.uk to help.
