Lingerie brand Bluebella has partnered with storytelling platform StyleLikeU for a new video in which four women discuss how they define sensuality and sexuality. Alex Bruni, in her 60s, Riya Hamid, who rebelled against her strict upbringing in Bangladesh, Danish transgender model May Simón Lifschitz, and body positive campaigner Ali Tate Cutler talk about their struggles with age, cultural identity, gender and size. The StylelikeU x Bluebella video is part of the international lingerie brand’s #loveyourself campaign which encourages women to own and celebrate their sensuality.
In the video, Alex Bruni, who is pictured in Bluebella’s Natalia body, said: “There is this idea when you grow older you physically stop being sensual. I thought that when you reached the age of 50, that’s it – the end.” But she goes on to explain how she rediscovered her sexual identity after the menopause.
Riya Hamid, pictured in Bluebella’s Nyla chemise, talks about the cultural restrictions placed on her by her family in Bangladesh. She said: “My mother had full control over my appearance. Modesty was very strongly emphasised.” But now she feels liberated. “I feel the sexiest now that I have ever felt. This is a beauty I wanted to share with the world and what the world does with it is not any of my business.”
