Online golf retailers golfsupport.com set out to explore sustainable materials in activewear, researching several brands to identify the most affordable ethical activewear to shop right now. Next most affordable is Bamboo Clothing (BAM), which specialises in activewear made with bamboo, an increasingly popular alternative to cotton. At BAM the average price of an activewear set is £152.20 (£24 for a sports bra, £21.30 for a vest, £46.90 for leggings and £60 for a hoody or sweatshirt). Jilla Active specialises in circular knitting techniques and functional materials and comes in at third most affordable, offering activewear sets from £167.65 (£31.70 for a sports bra, £34.20 for a vest, £46.75 for leggings and £55 for a hoody or sweatshirt).
Golfsupport.com spoke exclusively with the press team at Jilla Activeto find out more: “Our products are made in a family-owned factory in China. We believe it’s important to inform consumers about the origin of clothing; it raises awareness of the fashion supply chain. Transparency is important. If the customer is informed, they are empowered in their purchasing decisions. We are also a brand that champions women. We are a female focused business with a female director – even the factory is run by a woman. As a brand, we are still on our journey to becoming more sustainable and ethical. This takes time, however, we think sharing these small steps and improvements is helpful to the consumer and everyone involved in the wider industry.”
Comparably, brands like Starseeds and Sports Philosophy are more expensive. Luxury activewear brand Silou, who create mindfully manufactured pieces in sweatshop free production houses, is most expensive, with the average price of an activewear set costing £508.50 (£100.60 for a sports bra, £80.10 for a vest, £158.80 for leggings and £169 for a hoody or sweatshirt).
