Two brothers orphaned by the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004 have turned their tragic experience into an opportunity to help others: having spent years travelling the world in flip flops, a charitable flip flop company seemed like a great way to build something they really believed in. New flip flop brand Gandys was developed by Rob and Paul along with the Orphans for Orphans initiative, which aims to ensure orphans in less developed countries have access to education, support and healthcare.

Ten percent of Gandys’ profit is donated to a charity called Mango Tree in India, where they have spent a lot of time as kids travelling with their family, but the ultimate goal is to open their own orphanages in memory of their parents by the end of 2014. The results are encouraging: after just one year in the market, Gandys has donated enough money to Mango Tree to provide school supplies for one hundred children and to fund their teacher for a whole year.

Gandys can be found in most retailers nationwide, including House of Fraser, Schuh, Soletrader, Office and Topman, as well as the biggest retailer in the US, Nordstrom.
