Despite the financial challenges faced by businesses around the world, Australian swimwear brands Funky Trunks and Funkita have taken advantage of a major opportunity to be seen by a global sporting audience by announcing a sponsorship agreement with The New York Breakers, one of the founding franchises of the professional International Swimming League.
The ISL was established in 2019 with the aim to broadcast swimming to a global audience in a fast-paced, team-based competition. The global pandemic has forced the league to shift the entire season 2 to Budapest, Hungary where the best swimmers from around the world will compete for substantial cash prizes with each event televised on the American CBS Sports and Eurosport across Europe.

Funky Trunks and Funkita were born and bred on the pool decks and beaches of Melbourne, Australia in 2002 with the simple idea of putting style back into competitive swimming. The brands have grown year-on-year to establish a worldwide distribution network competing with the major international sporting brands and sponsoring over 100 swimmers competing at an international level, including many UK and Irish swimmers.
Funky Trunks and Funkita owner, Duncan McLean is thrilled to be partnering with the New York Breakers and taking the Aussie brands onto a global stage: “The New York Breakers provides us with the perfect fit to continue our support of professional swimmers and helps us build on our company goal of becoming globally recognised and respected swimming brands.”
Funky Trunks and Funkita will be supplying the team with their highly-rated APEX Predator performance racing suit, personally-branded deck coats and dome racing caps and goggles and of course, plenty of colourful training swimwear for the team to wear throughout the season in Budapest. The 2020 International Swimming League Season takes place from October to December.
