Bluebella has staged the world’s first Zoom video catwalk show from lockdown with over 200 models from all over the world taking part from their homes. The international lingerie brand organised the Zoom catwalk show after the show they were planning was cancelled due to the Covid-19 outbreak. It was conducted under strict social distancing conditions with all their models filming themselves wearing the Spring/Summer 2020 collection from lockdown in their homes.
The women were cast from the London brand’s Instagram followers and influencers, a diverse group aged from 18 to 50, in all body shapes and sizes. They came from all walks of life, from students, top executives, social media influencers and even a vet taking part. Each model submitted a catwalk video filmed at home by themselves or their lockdown partner, and the footage was then edited down to a two-minute catwalk show on a Zoom video multi-screen format.
Bluebella founder and CEO Emily Bendell said: “The COVID pandemic has restricted the fashion industry so much and a regular runway show now and in the near term is unthinkable. But the show must go on! So rather than be constrained we saw this as an opportunity to celebrate our extraordinary Instagram family. The whole industry will have to adapt to these changing times, I suspect Fashion Weeks in New York, London, Paris and Milan which are scheduled for September this year will be affected so brands may all have to adapt to online versions.”
The models appearing in the show included Lisa-Carlotta Kusters, a fashion design student from Edinburgh, Scotland; Kelly Mesquita, 29, a retail manager from Frankfurt, Germany; Cherie Barry, 28, a writer and Influencer and amputee from Melbourne, Australia; and Manon Prevoteau, 26 from Octeville sur Mer, France.
