Third and final year students at world-famous De Montfort University’s Contour Fashion Course were set two design tasks this year – by fitness clothing brand, Gymshark, and high street favourite, H & M. The fitness clothing brand, Gymshark, set its main directive this year by asking students to creatively reduce fabric wastage via clever design into the final design of 6 outfits, producing one hero garment for AW2020 which encapsulates both the spirit of creative athleisure/sportswear and sustainability.
This is the second collaboration with this brand that caters for ‘the brave, the fun & the fashion-conscious athlete.’ These students are completing their final collection with the best earning a place at the DMU Contour Fashion Catwalk in June 2020.
H & M also requested students to design a collection for AW2020 which shown the students’ capability to reduce lace/fabric wastage through intelligent design. 6 outfits were created by each student with once again a hero garment which had to combine the best levels of fabric application, components, fastenings and detail which had to include a wired bra. H & M have previously been impressed with the standard of students at De Montfort University and have returned with a repeat project.
