According to British consumers in a survey conducted for OnBuy.com (UK online marketplace), the UK’s worst department store is House of Fraser. Once widely loved, the chain mustered only 1.3 out of 5 on Trustpilot’s trust score, and 86% of reviews classify as ‘bad’.
Selfridges claims second worst department store. The high-end retailer appears to fall flat on its high-end expectations with a similarly disappointing 1.7 trust score. Not only that, 80% of its reviews are ‘bad’. In third worst position is Flannels. Specialists in contemporary luxury, a 1.7 trust score and 76% ‘bad’ reviews reflects British views on the business.
Flipping the scales, the best department store to visit this Christmas is Fenwick. Achieving 3.5 out of 5 from UK shoppers, it is the favoured retailer of this study. It also achieved the lowest percentage of ‘bad’ reviews at 30%.
Shoppers would also prefer to shop in Fortnum and Mason, with the London-based upmarket retailer clocking in at 2.8 out of 5 – this places it as second best.
In third place is TK Maxx. The American used goods seller has established its name overseas to achieve a 2.5 out of 5 from UK shoppers.
