Bluebella secures compensation after accusing PrettyLittleThing of copying designs

by Underlines

Bluebella has secured compensation from fashion brand PrettyLittleThing after accusing it of copying two popular lingerie designs. PrettyLittleThing (PLT) has removed two items from sale and has destroyed all relevant stock after Bluebella said its intellectual property rights had been infringed over the Orion and Marina lingerie sets. PLT also removed all references to its products from its online and retail locations.

Bluebella said that PLT had copied its ivory Marina bra and brief with its White Underwired Lace shoulder set, as well as the black Orion lingerie with its Black Ring Detail Harness lingerie. Bluebella has also taken action against LA-based fashion company Fashion Nova over a separate alleged infringement of its copyright. Fashion Nova removed the items from sale and will refrain from selling them in future after a complaint from Bluebella’s American attorney.

Bluebella’s legal action in the UK and the US reflects its policy of rigorously enforcing its valuable intellectual property rights whenever it considers that its unique product designs have been copied.

Emily Bendell, Bluebella founder and CEO, said: “We are delighted with the outcome to both cases. As a fashion lingerie brand, we’re focused on creating unique and exciting designs. We spend a lot of time, money and creative energy developing directional design, so we will always take action to protect our intellectual property rights and I hope these cases will act as a warning and a wake-up call to the industry that copying has consequences.”
