In celebration of Independent Retailer Month (July), Yorkshire based luxury lingerie retailer, Something Wicked, is championing the importance of supporting young independent businesses. Something Wicked not only supports independent retailers through its UK-based supply chains (manufacturing completely with the UK), but also through its ability to be reactive and flexible regarding stockist orders.
At Something Wicked, the whole manufacturing process takes place from start to finish at the brand’s studio, which is concealed inside a converted, old Yorkshire mill. A team of skilled seamstresses hand-make each individual garment, allowing for flexibility on orders. Something Wicked appreciates that independent boutiques and stockists can at times find it challenging to meet minimum order specifications.
Steff McGrath, Managing Director of Something Wicked explains: “Due to the nature of in-house manufacturing, we’re able to offer stockists the ability to order stock without having to bulk order. Whether it’s three or 3000, we can be flexible in accommodating different stockists’ requirements.”
Whatever cannot be made in the brand’s studio such as the stunning accessories, these are made by a female saddler in St Albans and the leather polish is exclusively made for the brand by an award-winning London beekeeper using 100% natural ingredients. Even the gift boxes are sourced from an ethical UK packaging company.
Steff continues: “Following the recent Brexit decision, now is an important time, more than ever, to support fellow UK businesses. Being an independent UK business ourselves, we can help support the growth of similar businesses. I believe being independent is an important aspect of the Something Wicked brand as it allows us to be more innovative in our design process, ensuring our lingerie is as high quality and beautiful as it can possibly be.”
