Viva Voluptuous promotes self-love message this Easter through social media campaign

by Underlines

Plus size swimwear and lingerie retailer Viva Voluptuous is challenging people to love themselves both physically and mentally this Easter by taking part in its self-love social media campaign starting this Friday. The two-week long initiative invites people of all body types to take a healthier approach to their mental health and physical shape by rejecting unattainable body images and standing up to body shaming online.

To take part, participants can visit the company’s social media pages and post a positive or confidence inducing photo of themselves in the comments section underneath the self-love campaign poster, making sure that they use the hashtag #selflove. Participants on Instagram are invited to post their chosen image on their own page, making sure that they use the hashtags #vivavoluptuous and #selflove. All participants are in with a chance of winning a £50 gift voucher which can be used at Viva Voluptuous online and will be awarded when the campaign ends on 15th April.

“This campaign aims to make women of all shapes and sizes as visible as possible across social media to try to combat the grossly inaccurate idea that there is only one desirable body type for women today,” says Director of Viva Voluptuous, Liz Willis. “Body shaming and constant exposure to unrealistic standards of beauty can be highly detrimental to our mental health and in some cases can manifest into dangerous eating disorders, amongst other conditions. We want to emphasize that this beauty standard is not the norm and that happiness doesn’t have to correlate with the number on the scale. Easter is a time for new beginnings and we invite everyone who wants to see a change in the way we view our bodies to join our campaign for self-love this Friday.”
