Following a 30% drop in sales in 2016, Van de Velde reported the closure of another Rigby & Peller store in the US. From a high of nearly 20 Rigby & Peller stores the number has fallen to nine in September 2017, with profits in the first half of the year declining  to 20.0 million euros, compared to 21.2 million euros in the same period last year.

Van de Velde also owns PrimaDonna, Marie Jo and Andres Sarda, and commented: “Wholesale turnover increased by 1.6%. Our PrimaDonna swimwear and the newly introduced PrimaDonna sportswear collections were particularly successful. Retail turnover increased by 3.0% on a like-for-like basis at constant exchange rates. Effect of exchange rate and store closures, resulted in a decline of turnover by 1.1%.” Of the nine Rigby & Peller stores that remain, three are located in New York, one in Atlanta, one in Boston, one in Pennsylvania, two in Chicago and one near Washington, DC.
