The most awaited event of the 15th edition of MarediModa, “The Shock of the New” is the title of the unmissable conference by leading trend consultant David Shah, who will discuss the present clash between generations, the push of millenials and its subsequent implications for the fashion industry. “We are moving from fast fashion to products with purpose, buying for emotion rather than status, designing not for the sake of something new but for an experiential economy. It’s not a five minute world anymore, but a five second one, and the arrival of a new generation taking control of things will lead to monumental changes in the fashion system,” Shah says.
“Where do brands go as we move into a circular design world based on repair and recycling, where the imperfect is perfect and goods no longer have a sell by date but are built to last?” David Shah adds.
Other highlights from the 15th edition of MarediModa are BIKONIC, an exhibition celebrating the 70th anniversary of the bikini complete with a shopping corner, and the MarediModa Creative Excellence Award ceremony which will commend Anita and Lise Charmel. “We are dealing with two virtuous examples of companies making the history of the beachwear and intimates, unquestionable models both of quality and culture of the product with a unique tradition,” states Marco Borioli, President of MarediModa. “Anita and Lise Charmel have been appointed for the passion and the creativity they embody.” MarediModa takes place between 8-10 November 2016 at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes.
