Boutique 65 opened on 23rd April 2012 in the most exclusive street in Colchester alongside a luxury men’s store. The 350 sq m shop is owned by Michelle Grant-Richardson and Stephen Alexander and stocks underwear & intimate apparel, nightwear, loungewear, legwear, beachwear and swimwear and men’s bodywear. There are two large display windows and 2 very roomy, luxurious changing rooms.
Michelle was previously a Project Management and Business Development Manager for British Telecommunications PLC and comments: “lingerie of course is a different world but a lot of my skills at BT have stood me in good stead with the opening and development of Boutique 65.
“After struggling to find nice underwear for a 40th birthday Calendar Girls photoshoot (my friends and I ranged from an A cup to a J cup), we realised that there was a gap in the market and women should feel empowered and beautiful no matter what shape or size we are. I wanted to give them choice and colour. If every lady is wearing the right size bra and walks from my shop that little bit more confident than when they walked in, that to me is success! My most popular sizes are 30-32 E/F/FF and GG but I cater right up to J cups.”
“There was definitely a gap for a better end lingerie shop as nothing exists like our shop within a 20 mile radius and it was 15 years since there had been an independent intimate apparel store in this area,” says Michelle. The shop stocks over 20 different brands from the UK, France and Italy.
