An independent lingerie retailer that began life as a small home-run online business is celebrating 17 years of success, having grown into one of the UK’s most respected lingerie specialists.

Mish, now based in Wadebridge, was founded in 2009 by Michèle Poynter and expanded into bricks-and-mortar retail with a store in Bodmin before moving to its current Wadebridge location. Over the past 17 years, the business has built a loyal following across South West and beyond, becoming known for its expert bra fitting service, carefully curated collections and highly personal approach to customer care.
Mish has received multiple national accolades, including Drapers Independent Awards and Stars Underlines Best Shop Awards and has been recognised as one of the UK’s leading independent lingerie retailers.

Founder Michèle Poynter said:
When I started Mish, it was simply about helping women feel more comfortable and confident. I never imagined it would grow into what it is today. What’s always mattered most to us is the experience. We take our time, we listen, and we make sure every customer leaves feeling better than when they walked in.”
The business is particularly known for its specialist bra fitting, with customers travelling from across the region for appointments.
“So many women are still wearing the wrong size bra and just putting up with it. If you’ve never had a proper fitting, or it’s been a while, it can genuinely change how you feel day to day.”
To mark the milestone, Mish held a charity fashion show, coined the “Littlest Runway Party” to support the Cornwall Air Ambulance. Mish is running a month-long birthday charity prize draw, also supporting Cornwall Air Ambulance, with all proceeds donated to the organisation’s life-saving work.
