Founded by Mikkel Juel Iversen, Under One Sky is a volunteer-led charity that aims to use education, compassion and collaboration to end homelessness in the UK and beyond. The Charity was founded to empower individuals, companies and public organisation to be a part of that change, transforming lives and growing a Utopian community together.
The Landscape That Exists
• UK has the highest level of homelessness in the Western World
• In contexts like homelessness or displacement, underwear is often one of the most under-donated items but one of the most critically needed for health and dignity
• The ugly truth: physical, mental, social
• These are life changing garments…everyone understands why
• 354,000 people are affected by homelessness in UK – 150,000 of those are children.
• 350,000 children miss school due unclean clothes.
To date Under One Sky has delivered 1.2 million connections between volunteers and homeless friends in the last 5 years across London, Edinburgh and Newcastle (thanks to more than 3.000 volunteers).
Incredibly on an annual basis the Charity provides between 17,000-20,000 pairs of underwear on the street amount to some £43,000-£50,000. And if you need to understand the pressing need, the annual income of the Charity in the latest financial year was £370K so up to 14% of their total income was spent on underwear.
Editor, Pamela Scott, and Underlines Magazine are asking brands/large retailers in the UK and beyond to lend their support with donations of men’s, women’s (period and ordinary pants) and children’s underwear that they may have overstock of.
The Charity is proactive every year with events such as an annual cabaret to raise funds through sponsorship, ticket sales, auction proceeds and raffle ticket sales with one of the best line ups in the cabaret calendar. 2026 will see the launch of Under One Sky’s new life transformation programme “The Lighthouse” backed by a group of angel funders.
