Adolf Riedl GmbH & Co KG, a well established swimwear business in Germany trading under the well-known brands of  SUNFLAIR®, OLYMPIA®, SUNMARIN®, and WAVEBREAKER®, SUNFLAIR®, OLYMPIA®, SUNMARIN®, and WAVEBREAKER®. The Bayreuth District Court appointed Nuremberg lawyer Joachim Exner as provisional insolvency administrator on 5th November 2025.

SUNFLAIR®

Founded in 1947 the company offered both women’s and men’s styles – from bikinis and swimsuits to beach accessories. Adolf Riedl described himself as one of the leading swimwear manufacturers in Europe. With its production facility on Ottostrasse, the company was deeply rooted in the region and employed over 100 people.

According to reports the insolvency is part of the crisis in the fashion indusry – subdued consumer sentiment, rising energy and fabric/yarn costs and increased competition from discount retailers and digital sales channels – has put pressure on medium-sized manufacturers, leading in Adolf Riedl’s case to preliminary insolvency proceedings.

With its long history, Adolf Riedl is one of the leading companies in the regional textile industry. The insolvency affects not only the company itself, but also numerous partners along the supply chain and specialist retailers. The continued existence of the company, and especially the Bayreuth location, now depends on potential investors, restructuring options and its financial situation.
