As part of its commitment to continuous creative innovation and sustainable textile solutions across the entire value chain, Hyosung’s Fashion Design Centre (FDC), which is an interactive fashion studio that spans the U.S., Europe and Asia renowned for analyzing progressive brands and retailers while researching consumer insights, has unveiled its forecasted SS2027 Textile Trend report.
The report embraces three mega trends, subsequent themes across market segments, and the essential materials that leading apparel brands are expected to integrate into their collections for SS2027.
Blue Wellness
Wellness is shifting from travel-based escapes to everyday recovery practices, with water emerging as a central medium for restoration. This evolution—known as Blue Wellness—reflects a growing embrace of water-based rituals, from rooftop pool soaks to urban walks and nature-inspired moments that help ease climate stress and urban fatigue. As extreme weather and city living drive new wellness needs, water-centric activities like outdoor swimming and cold plunge therapy are rising in popularity. These accessible, restorative practices highlight how Blue Wellness is becoming an integrated and lasting part of daily wellbeing.

Climate Resilience
As climate change becomes an undeniable part of daily life, consumers are shifting from uncertainty to proactive adaptation—recognizing its impact on health, lifestyle, and economic stability. In response, they’re embracing new ways to live more sustainably and resiliently. Adaptation is taking shape through lifestyle changes, technological innovation, and conscious travel. Trends like ‘coolcationing’ to cooler destinations, temperature-regulating tech, and the rise of textile-to-textile recycling reflect how consumers are adjusting to environmental shifts while minimizing their impact.

Modern Retro
Retro style has reemerged as a major fashion trend, driven by millennials seeking comfort in nostalgia and Gen Z embracing past aesthetics as fresh and modern. Social media has amplified this revival, bringing vintage looks from the ’80s to early aughts back into the spotlight with contemporary twists.
Today’s retro-inspired fashion blends bold elements from 90s sportswear—like soccer and basketball uniforms—with modern designs. Preppy styles also feature color blocking and stripes, adding individuality while preserving the charm of past decades reimagined for today’s tastes.
With this insight in mind, FDC predicts the following themes for apparel made with Hyosung’s broad range of CREORA® and certified sustainable regen™ brands of recycled and bio-based spandex, nylon, and polyester yarns.
