Ms A London is the first mainstream lingerie, swimwear & solutions brand that delivers fit appropriate garments to the Transfeminine community. Its visionary creator and founder, Bok Goodall, recently went to meet undergraduate and postgraduate Contour students at De Montfort University to explain her work in this ground-breaking field.
To an audience of over 20 students Bok showed sample garments from the very earliest beginnings to contemporary samples to demonstrated the progression of the brand in terms of sizing and fit which has been refined over the last three years.
Catherine Livingstone (Programme Leader Contour Fashion Innovation MA/MSc) & Rachel Toner (Programme Leader Contour Fashion) commented:
Bok’s visit to DMU Contour last week provided real insight to our students on the technical challenges involved in creating specialist underwear. Bok’s work on Size Matters and Ms A London is a great example of research with impact, having such a positive meaning for its users. Bok’s extensive knowledge was an inspiration to our students and will no doubt motivate future research within this area.
It was a fruitful talk and sounding board as Bok added:
It was such an honour to be invited to DMU. Everyone was keen to understand the issues faced to date and what we’ve done to get around them, and everyone loved the product and saw a real need for it in today’s world. These students are the future of our industry, and so it’s very exciting that they ‘get it’ and see a real value in what this product will bring the community, and that they see the global possibilities. I had some great emails from students afterwards, it was a pleasure to meet everyone and get to spend some time chatting and looking at their work – and their sketchbooks were spectacular!”
