In her latest runway showcase at Madrid Fashion Week, celebrated swimwear designer Dolores Cortes draws inspiration from the timeless beauty of nature, with nods to William Morris and the Arts and Crafts movement. Her 2025 collection reflects the organic, intertwining elements found in nature – floral motifs, leaves and birds – skilfully integrated into bikinis and trikinis featuring delicate Liberty-inspired patterns.
Pastel Dreamscapes & Velour Textures
Cortes emphasises delicate pastel tones over soft velour fabrics, creating a nostalgic yet refreshing aesthetic. The use of XS-sized prints offers a subtle touch of vintage elegance, bringing together the past and present. Contrasting elements also feature prominently, especially in the form of oversized brooches and bold graphic details.
A Playful Colour Palette
Beyond the pastel hues, the collection embraces striking contrasts, particularly with the lime tones that dominate her more structured and sophisticated pieces. These are adorned with dramatic drapery and intricate braiding, offering a bold contrast to the collection’s more organic elements. Meanwhile, ocean blue garments take on a futuristic edge with 3D applications and embellishments.
Timeless Black & White
The ever-classic black and white combination returns with an ethnic twist. Cortes weaves in linear prints and hand-crafted elements, using enamel brooches to bring a touch of handmade charm. The ethnic-inspired motifs and hand-detailed finishes serve to elevate the collection’s overall sophistication.
Versatile Cover-ups for Every Woman
Known for her inclusive designs, Cortes once again highlights the diversity of her audience. This season’s cover-ups are designed in oversized, flowing silhouettes with glittering beaded embroidery, catering to women of all shapes, sizes and ages. Models like Lorena Duran and Carla Trujillo graced the runway, bringing to life Cortes’ vision of swimwear that truly fits all women.
Dolores Cortes loyal supporters were in attendance, applauding her creative vision as she continues to redefine swimwear, drawing on nature, art and tradition to create pieces that are not only stunning but designed to make every woman feel confident. More information from lucy@pbras.co.uk.
