Maredamare (the international beachwear fair held in Florence from 20-22 July) has revealed the exuberant and enveloping trends for 2025, curated by Nello Marelli. Marelli is one of the leading experts in the field (being Vice President of IACC Italy and renowned ‘Colour Designer’) and the forecasts will be supported by a special display at the fair itself with Style-3d providing an interactive journey.
CONTEMPORARY TWIST
A tribute to inclusivity, uniqueness and respect for one’s body (even if less than perfect). A kind of bespoke beachwear where the lines follow, detail and enhance – classic and simple aesthetics at times reminiscent of the 20’s with a skilful emphasis on black and white contrast, sometimes moved by drapes and folds recalling the Greek figurative school.
A MODERN BOHEME
A Bohemian, romantic and seductive atmosphere sees exotic prints enriched with precious accessories that illuminate the outfit with bold glows. Twisted ropes, tubular straps and highlighted artisanal details provide refined uniqueness. Sophisticated colour combinations follow the same rule of matching primary and secondary tones but desaturated for ethnic hues and elegant floral motifs from Indonesian art.
KAWAII CHIC
A measured, whispered aesthetic that reflects the sentiment of the new generations – there are signs of the past and of the handmade with care with applications, ruffles and crochet details adding a homely charm and uniqueness. Simply and familiar textures and fabric surfaces evoke nature and sand dunes in ribbed jersey and tubular knit fabrics with styles that are comfortable.
ESPRIT ATHLETIQUE
A vitamin-filled summer with colour blocking and cuts reminiscent of surfwear but presented in a ‘cool’ way with technical and technological features and a sporty attitude without excesses. Fabric takes centre stage and allows a strong play with performing base layers and second layers. Femininity is bright, energising and flashes of 80’s pop colours. Design is ergonomic focussed on the body lines to enhance its shapes.
