Final year students at renowned De Montfort University were set a design project for 2024 in collaboration with Lounge Underwear.
The final year students were set a live brief by Lounge to design a six-piece collection for Spring/Summer 2024. The outfits could cover one product area, or could be designed across the following specified product areas of loungeunderwear | loungesleep | loungeswim, and had to be affiliated to a strong awareness of sustainable development goals, fresh consumer trends, innovative fabrications & branding ideas and fashion forward shapes. Thirteen finalists were invited to the brand’s headquarters in Birmingham to present their collections and showcase their final finished outfits, in addition to enjoying an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the new office spaces.
The students presented their garments, research and technical work at the Lounge Underwear’s Head offices in Solihull in late February 2024.
The winning design was conceptualised by Funmi Ogundimu, with second and third runner ups respectively as Meryn Parry and Niamh West. Esther Makin was also awarded highly commended.
This collaboration marks the third occasion where Lounge Underwear has lent its support to students on the Contour Fashion Course at the University. Alumnus Emily Blount, Head of Product and Thom Smith, Senior Talent Acquisition Manager, assisted in judging the students, alongside encouragement from Georgia Perry, Chief People Officer who has consistently supported the partnership.
