Hanro celebrates its 140th anniversary this year and have introduced a special anniversary collection. Firstly for women’s underwear the anniversary collection is named after strong women who have played a pioneering role in politics, society, fashion, science or culture so look out for capsule ranges entitled Hedy (Hedy Lamarr), Josephine (Josephine Baker) and Marilyn (of course after Marilyn Monroe who wore Hanro underwear in the famous subway shaft scene in the movie ‘The Darned 7th Year’).

As well as these key underwear styles, Hanro is introducing retro inspired styles in nightwear, a retro-inspired men’s collection and an exclusive loungewear range dedicated to the first Hanro designer ‘Madeleine’.
Simply elegant nightwear from original designs in the 1980’s is one of the key inspirations for nightwear – but now in flowing organic cotton. This Simone collection is inspired by French intellectual Simone de Beauvoir.

The men’s selections have a strongly nostalgic feel through loungewear, nightwear and sporty daywear. The loungewear is named after renowned designer, Yves Saint Laurent, who embodied French haute couture. The Carl nightwear pays tribute to Hanro co-founder, Carl Ronus, who started offering comfortable garments for men right from the 1920’s. In daywear, the Pierre collection of briefs, pants, boxer shorts and T-shirt of modal cotton is name after Pierre Curie, scientist and husband to Marie Curie.

The Madeleine is named after granddaughter of the company founder and first Hanro designer, Madeleine Kriesemer-Handschin, who took on design in the early 1930’s in her first project of beach dresses. The range includes a jumpsuit (or beach suit), T-shirt, shorts and long pants as well as comfortable blazer.
