The preview of the Maryan Mehlhorn Spring/Summer 2022 collection is inspired by nature and reminiscent of a language based on the tradition of craftsmanship. Traditional motifs, sophisticated details, the aura of hand-painted brush strokes, natural hues, luxurious fabrics and the intricacies of the little things let timeless elegance shine. The desire for wellbeing, comfort and quality is manifested in the print, fabric and cuts, embodying longevity and sophistication with its technical expertise.
Statement prints, shimmering fabrics and bright, positive colours are combined with nostalgic references for a collection that brings you into the great wide open. Details such as ruching, metal eyelets and slit-shaped cut-outs feature throughout the collection, as well as high-cut bikini pants and high-waisted cuts. Low necklines or haptic fabric explosions, bold prints or delicately coordinated colour worlds catch the eye as unexpected elements wherever we go.
The basic design group “Elements” is based on unpretentious wellbeing, sustainable understatement and the expertise of unique tailoring. The soft fabric sculpts the body in a monochrome silhouette, featuring pleats, ruches and drapes set as accents. A palette of black, cranberry, deep sepia and rain forest channels the tranquility of nature.
The dynamic, monochrome print in the “Energy” group represents luminosity and vitality. Optimistic with a powerful feminine touch, the magenta colour is paired with three-dimensional details. A new one-piece with underwiring, fine strapping and vertical cut-out takes up the ruching as a leitmotif of the design group, as well as the light dress in maxi length and nautical cord.
Inspired by adventures in Angkor Wat and Bagan, the “World Traveller” group presents a composition of harmonious earth tones such as terra, olive and ginger, and carefully assembled elements of traditional craftsmanship. The monokini symbolises bohemian allure, just like the new swimsuit with ring detail and a folded waist belt. The casual beach trousers, a tunic with pleats and buttons in an antique metal look and a slit caftan with semi-transparent structure and fine lurex stripes build the bridge to womenswear.
The “Canvas” group is characterised by nautical touches with shimmering, textured prints in linen and canvas. The texture of the sand-coloured fabric emphasises maritime contours in fresh white, with horizontal white eyelet holes and fabric-covered buttons. A caftan dress with a leather-trimmed belt element combines beach couture and loungewear.
“Mariner” discreetly reveals its relationship to the “Canvas” group with its woven structure and nautical colour blocking. The comfort of the high-quality fabric, the technically perfect cut and the invisible design of the styles create timeless silhouettes.
Last but not least, “Havana” feature a print reminiscent of tobacco plantations and tropical plants. The surface reflects like watercolours of the Caribbean and plays with the lively alternation of light and shadow. The highlight is a swimsuit with a low V-neck and slit-shaped metal eyelets. A short caftan for throwing on quickly with macro eyelets in light gold invites us to the first cocktail party of the summer, while a dress with a printed long pleated skirt and tobacco-coloured corsage covers the body with ease.
