Mey is the first company in Germany to bring FSC® certified clothing into the market and one of the first certificate holders for FSC® certified clothing worldwide. The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) is an international organisation that promotes environmentally compliant, socially acceptable and economically sensible management of forests in the world, and the FSC® product certification makes sure that products make a contribution to sustainable forestry. It ensures that certified and controlled materials are used correctly from the forest to the last processing step.
As of AW21, all Mey products containing FSC® certified materials will be identifiable through labelling on the hang tag or packaging. It will thus be clear that these products contain wood-based materials such as out TENCEL™, modal fibres, micro modal or viscose, and have successfully undergone an independent examination by the third-party certification body SCS Global Services.
“For us, sustainability is a tradition rather than a trend. That’s why we have been focusing on transparent and regional value creation since 1928. By using FSC®-certified raw materials, we try on the one hand to strengthen our sustainable value chain and on the other to highlight to our customers that we use the sustainable raw material of wood for our products,” said Florian Mey, managing partner of the Mey Unternehmensgruppe.
