New recycled nylon athleisure nursing bras from Projectme

by Underlines

Projectme’s latest collection, ‘A Gentle Future’, defies the norm of the intimates market with bold new maternity and nursing bras featuring revolutionary recycled fabric with design inspiration from athleisure. Projectme is committed to reducing environmental and ethical impacts in the production of their garments in the form of the materials they use and the manufacturing standards and processes they abide by.

The new ‘Defy’ nursing bra styles are made using innovative MIPAN Regen® recycled pre-consumer Nylon with elastane for quality, silky handfeel microfibre. The recycled Nylon has received Global Recycle Standard certification and Oeko-Tex 100 standard for safe to skin. During production, energy and water consumption is significantly reduced, and by-products that would normally go to landfill are repurposed. Alongside being eco-friendly, the fibres are strong, lightweight and durable.

“We are taking steps to limit our environmental impact; instead of introducing new plastic to the world, we are repurposing existing plastics like water bottles etc that would have otherwise ended up in landfill or our oceans. By melting and re-extruding the plastic into liquid form we can then create brand new beautiful soft fabric, using less resources, less greenhouse gas emissions and less energy.” Says Projectme’s designer Tessa Dawson.

Projectme’s ‘Defy the Norm’ statement is etched into the band and strap detail of each of the Defy garments. This statement amplifies Projectme’s message of staying true to who you are, banishing stereotypes and embracing the motherhood journey with confidence and style.

“We wanted to create inclusive designs that mothers feel confident to rock through maternity, nursing and beyond. Athleisure wear is everywhere, it’s stylish and comfortable, however traditional nursing bras just didn’t fit within this market, so ‘defy’ nursing bras were born!” The bold new athleisure wear nursing t-shirt and crop style bras, plus new recycled nylon bikini briefs are due to drop from December 2020.
