Mey starts producing face masks

by Underlines

German based bodywear specialist Mey has started to produce face masks. The huge demand for products that can be used in a medical setting has prompted Mey to stop some of its production of premium underwear and lingerie and instead focus on producing face masks to cover the mouth and nose.

“We have seen such a sharp rise in requests for medical personal protective equipment in recent days that we have decided to promptly start producing functional face masks to cover the mouth and nose. Our products are made of cotton, meaning they can be washed at 90° and reused multiple times. This gives them a real advantage over disposable alternatives. Our final tests and prototypes are due to be signed off today and we will make a start on production at the beginning of next week,” said Matthias Mey, Managing Partner of the Mey Group.

“As it stands, the products will exclusively be sold directly to hospitals and other medical facilities. We hope that taking this step will allow us to play our own small part in the fight against coronavirus.”
