Transgender model Munroe Bergdorf is fronting a new Valentine’s campaign for Bluebella. The lingerie brand is aiming to redefine sensuality with the bold #LoveYourself campaign featuring a range of uniquely beautiful models. Munroe regularly appears on national and international television news to comment on diversity, gender, race, and LGBTQ+ issues and writes for several magazines and newspapers. Bluebella owner Emily Bendell said: “We chose Munroe to front our #LoveYourself campaign because she has proven herself to be a brave and bold voice, an icon in an age of increasing social awareness. She has used her profile to advocate for a fairer world and to empower individuals to fight for positive change.”
“I’m proud to be part of a campaign that is encouraging all women to feel empowered and sexy in their own ways, on their own terms,” said Munroe. “I’ve never felt so sure of myself or as empowered as a human being as I do now. It has taken a long time to get to this point where I just feel calmness. I’m now in a position where I don’t care about other people’s opinions on my appearance – I care about the opinions of the people that matter to me, but not so much of people walking down the street. If someone knows I’m trans I don’t feel ashamed of that any more. I think it’s something to celebrate and it’s a part of me.”
“Lingerie should be something that all women can enjoy. It’s something personal, beautiful and intimate that is a celebration of femininity, something that every woman should have the option of being included in,” she adds. “I’m proud to be working with Bluebella, a lingerie company created by women, that champions diversity of shape, race, gender and ability. True diversity is the future, let’s leave any form of discrimination or exclusion in the past.”
