Mercedes-Benz Fashion Weekend Ibiza has drawn to a close, marking one of Spain’s most successful fashion events of the year and establishing itself as a leading platform for Spanish fashion. The event featured a catwalk around the iconic Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel swimming pool featuring Spanish designers Alvarno, Andrés Sardá, Jorge Vázquez, 2nd LAB by The 2nd Skin Co, Custo Barcelona and London based designer Melissa Odabash.
Organised by Mercedes-Benz Spain and Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel, together with Madrid’s international trade fair institution IFEMA, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Weekend Ibiza welcomed more than 500 guests including leading Spanish and international media and key fashion figures. The success of the event firmly cemented MBFW Ibiza as a key fixture of the Spanish fashion calendar and the second biggest fashion event in Spain, after the Madrid edition.
Speaking about the success of the event, Charo Izquierdo, director of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Weekend Ibiza and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid says: “In this second edition of MBFWI, we have consolidated Spain’s Resort Collection and elevated the event on an international scale, not only through the participation of guest international designer Melissa Odabash but also via the participation of a range of international media and fashion personalities.”
‘Day to night’ is the name of the Andres Sarda 2019 Resort collection, a selection of garments that reflect the different moments enjoyed on a hot and summery day. From spectacular bikinis, swimsuits and sophisticated nautical themed day dresses to delicate pieces decorated with Swarovski crystals to illuminate summer nights.
Inspired by the 1960s French Riviera, Melissa Odabash showcased her latest ‘Après Plage’ collection, a sophisticated line featuring strong camouflage prints and exquisite design detail such as dramatic plunge backs. Melissa Odabash also showcased an exclusive preview of her new collection that will be launched in November 2018 to mark the brands 20th anniversary.
